Dorchester Retrofit: Demo Crew and Weather Barrier

Demo is officially underway at the Dorchester site this week! We've partnered with Mass Home Contractors and they have been on site over the past few days preparing the building for the upcoming retrofit installation.

Their crew is currently removing all of the existing asphalt siding from the exterior of the building. This first step will clear the way for our system and help us assess the underlying conditions before we move forward with installation. In addition to siding removal, the crew will also be taking down the rear fire escape, which is no longer structurally sound and has been deemed unsafe. They’ll also be demoing the previously added front porch, which is being removed to restore the facade to its original configuration.

Once demo is complete, the HPT team will be on-site to install a new weather barrier across the exposed building face. This layer is essential to sealing the building envelope and ensuring that the retrofit performs effectively and efficiently.

Following the weather barrier installation, we’ll begin installing the long-awaited GRID system on the first 50% of the building. This initial phase will cover the South and West sides and marks a major milestone for the project—one that we’ve been working toward for months.

Stay tuned for more updates as we transition from demo into installation and continue transforming the Dorchester building with the HPT retrofit system!
